Despite the ongoing tussle for the control of Local Government Councils in Plateau State, owing to the alleged suspension of the 17 Local Government Council (LGC) Chairmen in Plateau State, the Legislative Arm of Jos-North LGC has passed a Vote of Confidence on Hon. Shehu Bala Usaman, the Executive Chairman of the Council.
According to the press release made available to REALITY, the Vote of Confidence was passed on him by the Legislative Arm because of the Chairman’s “judicious use of the counci’s scarce resources in executing projects which has direct impact on the people”.
The Vote of Confidence on the Council Chairman, followed a Motion on Matters of Public Importance presented and moved by the Councilor representing Ahwol Ward, Hon. Bulus Daniel Shekara and seconded by his Sarki Arab counterpart, Hon. Zakari Baba’uma, which was seeking to understand the nitty-gritty of the recent happenings in the state that has drawn the attention of critical stakeholders and citizens in the country and in their respective Wards.
The Chairman also used the occasion to call for calm, while emphasizing that he still remains the Executive Chairman of Jos-North LGC.

JOS NORTH LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN.
The Jos North Legislative Council has passed a Vote-of-Confidence on the Executive Chairman of the Council, Ambassador Shehu Bala Usman for been transparent and accountable in the execution of peoples’ oriented projects.
The Vote of Confidence on the Council Chairman followed a motion on matters of Public Importance presented and moved by the Councilor representing Ahwol Ward, Hon. Bulus Daniel Shekara and seconded by his Sarki Arab counterpart, Hon. Zakari Baba’uma seeking to understand the nitty-gritty of the recent happenings in the state which has drawn the attention of critical stakeholders and citizens in their respective Wards .
Thereafter, the Legislative Arm invited the Chairman of the Council, Shehu Bala Usman and his Deputy Ezekiel Shina Agada.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Yakubu Atsen, then explained that, the decision to pass a Vote-of-Confidence on the Chairman followed the execution of peoples-oriented projects scattered across the locality which have a direct impact on the life of the people.
He commended the Chairman for impacting positively on the lives of the people through judicious use of scarce resources in the execution of the projects, which are spread across the locality.
“We are impressed with the quality of work done in all the projects the Chairman had initiated and executed.
“It makes our oversight functions very easy for us through the positive feedback we received from our constituents. The Leader remarked.
On the purported suspension of the Local Government Councils in the state, the Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council stated that, there is a subsisting Court Order restraining Governor Caleb Mutfwang from suspending the duly elected Councils of the seventeen (17) Local Governments.
Usman said, used the moment urge citizens in the LGA to be law-abiding, while stressing that, “he still remains the duly elected Chairman of the Council”.
The Council Chairman noted that, he would continue to discharge his duties as the elected Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, until the court says otherwise, stressing that, “in as much as the Governor has a tenure, the Local Government elected Chairmen and Councilors too have their own”.
The Executive Chairman of of Jos North Local Government Council, Shehu Bala Usman, equally used this the time to commiserate with families of those, who lost their loved ones in recent attacks in Riyom, Mangu, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, while urging security agencies to rise up to the occasion.
