By: Valentine Adese (JP),

The number of persons killed in Plateau state has being estimated to be, over 276 by the Global Society For Middle-Belt, from April 2023.

The body also disclosed that, those that have been displaced from their ancestral lands are now over Hundreds of Thousands, from April 2023 to date.

Giving a vivid detail of the killings in Plateau State since April 2023, the Spokesman of the  body, Comr. Jerry Tongle Datim flanked by his Secretary, Mr. Ringsum Joshua John and other members in a press conference today, accused the Fulani Militias for the killings.

“Gentlemen of the press, this is another statement sequel to the multiple attacks that have affected many parts of Plateau State of recent, especially, Mangu, Bokkos, Riyom and Barkin-ladi Local government Areas (LGAs), where lives and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

“You are all aware that on the 4th April, 2023, within the transitional period in Plateau state, while Governor Simon Lalong was still Governor of Plateau state, three (3) villages, which are: Murish, Jwak-Maitumbi and Kyampus were attacked by the reinforcement of well-armed Fulani Militias, where six people were killed in cold blood without any provocation.

“Still on the role of the STF, whenever ethnic locals report happenings to the STF officers, investigation will not be carried out and it will fall on deaf ears, while on the other hand, issues or reports concerning Fulani, when reported to the STF, will call for an immediate swing into actions by conducting a thorough search or investigation on the locals”. The body stated in part in their press briefing text.

As prayers to the Federal and State Governments, over the happenings in the state, the GLOBAL SOCIETY FOR MIDDLE-BELT, has called for the immediate withdrawal of the Military from all checkpoints and their replacement with Mobile Police, that Fulanis should vacate the ancestral lands of the people with immediate effect, SEMA and NEMA should come to the aid of those displaced, while Sector 8 STF should produce those three (3) phones snatched at Mangu police station with immediate effect, among other demands.
