PLATEAU: BREAKING: EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT GOV. CALEB MUTFWANG IS ALSO AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE---PUNDITS

As the Legal Team of Dr. Nantewa Yilwatda and the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to meet the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) at the Court of Appeal Abuja Division tomorrow, Saturday by 9.00 am, Pundits in the state have opined that the Appellants are simply going to raise the now established fact by the Court that, the Governor is also a product of the Primaries conducted by the lack of “structure PDP” in Plateau state.

They also said, “Everybody knows that the PDP in Plateau state had no structure for a very long time, owing to the struggle for supremacy in the chapter”.

They explained that the Appellants would simply tell, “The Court of Appeal to look into its recent Judgments and hold that Governor Caleb (Esq) is also an “Independent Candidate” like the rest from the PDP and it will be over”.

Pundits who spoke to REALITY during interviews also hold that the PDP National Headquarters is not speaking out because they know for a fact that the structure issue is not yet settled within the party as it concerns its chapter in Plateau State.

You would recall that REALITY had reported that, a group in the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the aegis of Justice And Integrity Group had written to the President of Nigeria Court of Appeal to disregard the Petition on Judges written by one Amb. Umar Iliya Damagun, dated 27^th October, 2023 for lacking in merit.

The Group in a letter addressed to the President of the Court of Appeal’s office, dated 1^st November 2023, signed by Hon. Emmanuel Macham as Spokesman, stated that the Petitioner has been a habitual Petition writer against Judges.

“It has become the habit of the Petitioner to write petitions on Judges that are upright in the discharge of their Constitutional duties” the group stated.

While introducing the group to the President of the Court of Appeal, the letter clarified that the authors are members of the Plateau State chapter of the PDP.

“We are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from various Wards and Local Governments in Plateau State and we wish to draw My Lordship attention to a purported petition”. The group stated.

The group explained:

1. That, the author of the purported petition letter demanding the disbanding of the 3-Man Panel of Hon. Justices E. O. Wiiliams-Dawodu (JCA), Muhammad Mustapha (JCA), Okon E. Abang (JCA) of the Abuja Judicial Division is not the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the party is yet to conduct its National Convention to elect one.
2. That, the National Headquarters of the party is fully aware that it has no valid and legal structure in Plateau State by virtue of the Supreme Court decision in Appeal No: SC/CV/1341/2022, between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and PLASIEC, which was delivered on the 23^rd May 2023.
3. That, the Petitioner should have studied all letters, and files and make inquiries about the status of the Plateau State PDP before writing the Petition.

As a position, the group had described the Petition as very “embarrassing to the party”.

The group further told the President of the Court of Appeal in the letter that, the National Headquarters of the party had also in the past refused delegates from its Plateau State chapter from participating in most of its activities and programs.

The group in part stated that “The Petitioner should know that, the National Headquarters had in the past refused delegates from Plateau State to participate at its Zonal Congress held at Makurdi, Benue State and the National Convention held in Abuja, as a way not to adulterate the processes”.

The group also urged the President of the Court of Appeal to continue to discharge the official duties of the office without fear or favour.
