PLATEAU: EXTENSION OF TIC TENURE: ANOTHER DISOBEDIENCE TO COURT ORDER BY THE PDP-LED GOVERNMENT IN PLATEAU STATE. APC CRIES OUT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has cried out against the extension of the tenure of the Transition Committees appointed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) through the State House of Assembly to oversee the affairs of the 17 Local Government Councils in the state..

According to the APC in a Press Statement tagged: “THE SPEAKER PLATEAU STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY IN COLLUSION WITH THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE DISOBEY ANOTHER COURT ORDER”, signed by its STRATEGIC MONITORING TEAM, the extension is another “disobedience of Court Orders, Court Judgments and Subpoenas by the Plateau State-led PDP Government”.

The APC used the Press Statement to call on the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the Executive Governor of Plateau State to “Give peace a chance on the Plateau and to seek justice for whatsoever they desire through LAWFUL means not by the display of impunity, crass abuse of law and intimidation”.

THE SPEAKER PLATEAU STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY IN COLLUSION WITH THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE DISOBEY ANOTHER COURT ORDER.

Dear Plateau people, this is another Matter of serious concern that the APC Strategic Monitoring Team is bringing to public fore about the flagrant disobedience of court orders, court judgments and subpoenas by the Plateau State-led PDP government.

Recall that on the 9th day of June, the Court granted an Order restraining the Governor of Plateau State, or its agents, or proxies from truncating democratically elected Local Government Council Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen, and Councilors from office because of the subsistence of their tenures as elected officials.

Sadly, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang who is a legal practitioner defied the Orders and dissolved the entire leadership of Local Government Councils in Plateau State. He then instituted an illegal Structure full of his CRONIES to run the affairs of the local governments.

Recall that two days back, the Plateau State House of Assembly on the request of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, extended the tenure of the illegal Transition committee by another period of 6 months in defiance to this subsisting court order which has not yet been set aside by a higher court of law.

We wish to state categorically that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly is not only a party to the illegality but the one being used by His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang to perpetrate all forms of illegalities in the state.

The disregard for the law by the PDP in the state is not new, its history of abuse of the law, and intimidating judicial officers predates recent history. The PDP must know that laws are made to be respected in order to have a peaceful society, they should know that without law there will be no society.

We call on the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the Executive Governor of Plateau State to give peace a chance on the Plateau and to seek justice for whatsoever they desire through LAWFUL means not by the display of impunity, crass abuse of law and intimidation.
