A Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice I. Kunda has declared that, there was no Local Government (LG) election in Langtang Local Government on the 9th of October, 2021, in the eyes of the Law, as the seat of the Local Government chairman, Hon. Joshua Laven was not vacant at that time.
The Court in its computation and calculation said, the seat would only become vacant on 9th October, 2022.
In his determination and answering the questions in suit No. PLD4321/2021, filed by the claimant, by way of Originating Summons, Hon. Laven, the Court said, “remains the Chairman of Langtang LG till 2022”.
Earlier and before reaching the judgment, the Court dismissed the Preliminary Objection (PO) filed by the Defendants, Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), Governor Simon Lalong and two others challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the suit.
The court has however, awarded the cost of N2.5million to Hon. Laven, against the Defendants.
Detailed reactions of Hon. Joshua Laven, Hon. Beni Lar (Reps) Binchen (Esq) PDP Legal Adviser, Plateau State and D. Niri (Esq), coming soon…
