Plateau State has been on the news these past weeks, over the conflict in the State House of Assembly, as two Speakers claim legitimacy to the seat of power in the House of 24 members.
As the Politicians refused to sleep, the security operatives in the state have also decided not to sleep too, as they keep watching the developing situation with inquisitive journalists.
The two Speakers, Rt. Hon. Abok and Rt. Hon. Sanda and their loyalists among the members in the House, despite trying to reach a truce by giving their various conditions for peace to reign and also to settle the issue(s) involve, they yet had their separate sittings in the House yesterday.
The State Commission of Police, though witnessed the sitting of Abok and his loyalists and stayed with them till about, 3.40pm, when he finally used his men to convey them to an unknown destination, his commitment and schedules seems to have deprived him from being in the House when Sanda and his group sat in the evening hours, between 5.00pm to 6.00pm.
Both groups, while laying claims to the Speaker’s seat, showed off their strength in numbers.
It was however discovered that both sides have 12 members each.
Although the Sanda’s group has threatened to arrest Abok, if he does not return all the paraphernalia of the office and accept that he has been impeached, the Abok group told journalists at the premises of the House that, peace can only reign, if the actions taken by the Sanda’s group are reversed.
While the political battle rages in the House, the Political parties involved, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been throwing tantrums at one another.
Reacting to a piece allegedly written by one Mr. S. Namang, titled: WHEN WILL THE PDP IN PLATEAU STATE LEARN ITS LESSON?, the PDP in its reaction, advised Mr. Namang not to be writing when drunk.

WHEN WILL THE PDP IN PLATEAU STATE LEARN ITS LESSON?
RESPONSE TO JOHN AKAN’S REACTION TO OUR RESPONSE ON THE SPEAKER’S IMPEACHMENT
The Peoples Democratic Party will not glorify apostasy by replying to people who are perfidious in action and deeds, people with traitorous tendencies, a party that is always uncoordinated, unrepentant and undemocratic in all its activities.
The court of public opinion and posterity is watching how they continue to act treacherously against plateau people. Please, Mr. Namang, don’t write when you are drunk.

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER, 20/22 YAKUBU GOWON WAY OPP NTA JOS
PRESS STATEMENT
1st Day of November, 2021
The attention of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) has just been drawn to the unconstitutional role of the Plateau state commissioner of police under the directives of the Presidency through Governor Simon Bako lalong to harass, intimidate and arrest 12 Hon members of the plateau state house of assembly from carrying out their constitutional responsibilities as representatives of the People.
The party at this moment alerts Nigerians in particular plateau people on this unfortunate undemocratic and unconstitutional role of the commissioner of police who have since morning relocated his office to the Plateau state house of assembly.
The CP and other security agencies used should explain to plateau people if he has turned the office of the plateau state house of assembly speaker into his office or one of his divisional office because since morning he has occupied the office with his armed men and as at this time the CP has arrested 12 members including the speaker taking them to an unknown location he should note that he has no constitutional right to prevent members from discharging their responsibilities inline with the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
The Peoples Democratic Party is monitoring as things unfold and will inform the people of plateau state on happenings.
We commend our House members for their steadfastness in sustaining Democracy and the rule of law and for showcasing the capacity of the party in the face of this uncivilized bloodthirsty and barbarians. The party is proud of all its members as they are the true representatives of the people.
Signed:
John T Akans (ksm FICA JP)
