By: Amb. Valentine Adese (JP),

The much-expected interaction between the Plateau State Government and Journalists operating in the State finally happened within a few hours after the Governor, Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) swore in his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, Dr. Timothy Golu.

While the Swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Golu and other Special Advisers of the Governor, took place at the Plateau State Government House Little Rayfield on the 4th of March 2024, the unprecedented interaction with Journalists operating in the state took place on the 5th of March, 2024.

Although Journalists in the state expressed so many of their worries in the course of the interaction and deliberation, which took place at the NUJ Press Center and hosted by the Council Executives led by its Chairman, Journalist, Mrs. P. Ayuku, the SA, Dr. Golu made the following submissions:

1.      That, the interaction would be sustained.

2.       That, Journalists in the state would have an interface with the Governor soon, to discuss the state and issues therein.

3.       That, Journalists would be directly exposed to the Strategic Objectives, Policies, and drives of the Government.

4.      That, the Government would take time to train and retrain Journalists in the state towards the state government’s strategic steps, planned to achieve the administration’s goals, objectives, and vision.

5.      That, other government functionaries from the State to the Local Government Council levels would be trained to understand how Journalists do their jobs and how to cooperate with them.

Earlier, in her welcome speech, the Chairman of the Council Mrs. Ayuku, had urged all Journalists to open their minds to say the needful during the deliberation.
