It was further learned that thugs and miscreants took advantage of the crowd and sneaked into the venue for the distribution of the palliative and the security agents were later overwhelmed by the crowd which eventually overpowered them.

The crowd immediately forced their way into the convocation arena where they forcefully carted away with the rice.

It was as a result of the stampede REALITY gathered that two of the female students met their tragic deaths, while Seventeen (17) of them sustained various degrees of injuries and were immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Center Kaffi for medical attention. As of the time of this report, most of them have been admitted.

Meanwhile, the State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule is deeply concerned over the death incident at the state University, promising that his administration would investigate the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident, pointing out that all those found responsible would face the wrath of the law.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Sule Addra, explained that similar distribution exercises were carried out at both, the Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia, and College of Health Science Keffi, without any hitch and therefore wondered why that of the state University could be different.

However, our Correspondent later gathered that the Nigerian Police later pursued students who were lucky to have escaped with some bags of rice to their hostels and took the bags of rice away a development which did not go down well with virtually all the students.
