EDITORIAL: GOVERNOR MUTFWANG’S MEDIA APPOINTMENTS: WHAT NIGERIAN GOVERNORS MUST LEARN

 

The country Nigeria has been over heated by huge level of insecurity and poor information network, within and among government operatives. The country has in the past horrible years been fed with rumours, as information from renowned credible sources have declined or reduced to a small number, and the effect(s) in most cases have led to poor decision making by Government and its Operatives/Appointees in the implementation of strategic policies and plans.

The masses have suffered most because they have constantly been fed with half-truths, of the policies of state administrations, owing to the fact that, the information getting to the people apart from been classified as grapevine, gossip or scuttlebutt, the methods adopted in processing them in most times are linked to political interest groups and supporters of the administration as the case may be, who may not be professionals in information gathering for strategic purpose(s).

More also, the needed propagators of the various administrations’ Strategic Polices across the country, have been limited in weight and value, with the way Media Practitioners take the stage in their various platforms, compromising the main purpose(s) of government.

GOV. MUTFWANG (ESQ)

Sadly, the quest, struggle and backstabbing for appointments among Media Practitioners has further fueled the lack of trust on the masses as they seem to have abandoned their Constitutional calling for Blackmailing and Insulting Professions.

Hence, the present clear and purposeful appointments of Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) of Plateau State within the Media Section of Government, needs commendation and emulation by those holding same saddles in the other states and in addressing some fundamental issues.

1.      Facts are that, the appointment of Skilled Professional, and Seasoned Media man Like Hon. Dr. Timothy Golu by Governor Mutfwang (Esq), shows that he saw the missing Strategic Link in implement government policies and the official need to properly explain government’s purpose(s) to the Plateau people.

2.       The appointment of a seasoned Journalist as his Media Director, Mr. Gyang Bere, also cured the poor historical inability to manage information, owing to the volatile nature of the state since 2001. From facts, Mr. Bere knows what to deliver to the Mass-media and when.

3.      The inadequate coverage of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state by the number of Media Practitioners and Media Houses in the state has finally been addressed by the huge number of Media Appointees, which ran in three categories. This is has been a untold problem affecting all the states in Nigeria to this day.

4.      The complaints of Security Operatives in the state of not getting security information promptly is now tactically addressed as most of the Media Appointees are resident at the 17 LGAs of the state.

5.      There is therefore high hopes that farmers would now be protected and can provide food for Nigerians within the shortest time with the aid of Security Operatives.

6.      THE REMAINING 35 GOVERNORS SHOULD EMULATE THIS APPOINTMENT STARTEGY TO SECURE THEIR CITIZENS.
