The Nasarawa State Police Command Thursday announced the killing of Five villagers in Gidan Sule Village in Keana Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The Police made this disclosure in a Press Statement issued in Lafia signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP. Ramhan Nansel.
The PPRO in the statement explained that, “On 21st July, 2021, at about 23.00 hrs, the command received an information that, unknown gunmen, while shooting sporadically, attacked a particular compound at Gidan Sule Village along Lafia- Makurdi Road”.
The Police image maker further explained that, upon receipt of the information, a detachment of Police personnel, comprising of the Police Mobile Force, the Counter Terrorism Unit, vigilante and hunters, with support from the military repelled the attackers.
ASP Nansel, stated that, four (4) corpses were recovered at the scene, while three injured victims were rescued and rushed to Odumu Hospital for medical attention. One person however, later died, while receiving treatment at the Hospital.
He said the State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe has deployed additional Policemen being led by the Area Commander Awe, ACP, Dankwano D. Wilson, to go after the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
The Commissioner of Police has also sent condolences to the families of the deceased, while assuring them that the Police command is doing everything humanly possible to arrest and bring the perpetrators of the act to face the Law.
The Police Boss according to the statement has assured the general public of the “Police commitment in fighting every form of criminality in the state”.
He also called on members of the public to always assist the police with useful information to enable the Police and other agencies bring an end to the ongoing senseless killings in the state.
