PLATEAU: REP. KOMSOL ALPHONSUS LONGGAP KICKS OFF ANOTHER CAMPAIGN PROMISE. A ROAD PROJECT, WORTH N232M

The Member representing, Shendam / Qua’an Pan / Mikang, Federal Constituency of Plateau State, at the Lower Chambers of the Nigerian National Assembly, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap has kick started steps to make do his campaign promises to his constituents.

Hon. Komsol has formally submitted an award letter to the Managing Director, Valentino Resources Ltd, Barr Tadas Okonkwo, for the construction of, the 15.3 km, Gidan Adamu Kwapkuwa Nbeet Piapung road.

According to the contract document, the 15.3 km has been valued at, N232 Million.

The award ceremony for the contact and the formal exchange of contractual agreements for the road was done in the presence of representative of the regulatory authority, Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority in Gidan Adamu, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State. While joyfully launching the road project, which has been part of his campaign’s promises to his constituents, Hon. Komsol, in his speech explained that, he is so pleased to be alive and executing his campaign promises for the good of his community, Constituents and humanity at large.

He said, “I am pleased to have flag off the construction of this road today, Monday, the 6th of September, 2021.

“The road connects several villages, including my home town, and I don’t have to lobby the Governor or the Chairman of the Local Government to build the road, but I told myself that, this road should be completed before 2023.”

Explaining further with regards to how the funding of the project would be, Hon. Komsol, told the mammoth audience that, “Anyone, who is familiar with the National Assembly’s workings knows that, you must domicile your Constituency Fund with a company. This fund is domiciled with the Lower Basin Development Authority, and I will have to domicile another fund in 2022, before the project can be completed and by the grace of God, the road will be completed before the end of my tenure.”

He however, urged the contractor to complete a high-quality job in accordance with the specifications, while requesting the Lower Basin Development Authority to disburse funds once the contractor submits a certificate.

Further adding to his request, Hon. Komsol pleaded that, men, and materials needed for the joy should be locally sourced.

“I want to reassure citizens of this community that we have agreed with the contractor that, individuals, who will be needed to work on the road, either engineers or labourers, should be sourced from the community,” Komsol stated.

The Federal Lawmaker goes on to explain that, “the funds for the project belong to the Constituency and the villages around, and that the people should profit from it.

Hon. Komsol, urged communities to work with the contractor to ensure that the project is completed on time, while calling on them to make sacrifices as well, especially, where the road invades their farmland during construction.

Komsol stated that the road has been in poor condition for several years, causing pain to community members, and said that once the project is complete, farmers would be able to transport their farm produce and sell it at a reasonable price.

The Honorable Member stressed that he is not concerned about 2023 politics, but wants to leave a lasting legacy that, would make him stand out in 2023.

He said, “In 2023 people will speak and compare, and I pray that, the comparison will be positive, and in my favour.

“Whatever comes up in 2023, I’ll accept it, as God’s will! I want people to be positive about me and I don’t want to disappoint those, who have supported me with everything they had”.

Hon. Komsol, could not end his speech, without showering praises on Governor Simon Lalong, for his exemplary leadership in the state. He urged Plateau residents to join him in establishing the long-term peace in the state.

Barr. Tadas Okonkwo, the project’s contractor, in his remarks during the short ceremony, affectionately, called the Federal Lawmaker, “precious”, as he vowed to build a road that would stand the test of time.

He explained that, his firm, Valentino Resources Ltd, stood out because of its focus to service, sincerity, and commitment in terms of project execution based on specifications.

The leaders, who witnesses the signing of the contractual agreement for the road construction, in their separate comments, acknowledged the gesture of Hon. Komsol, while showers accolades on him.

According to them, “It is a dream come true for their various communities”.

They expressed their trust in the legislative capabilities of Hon. Komsol, while instructing him to keep the pace, as they prayed to God to bless him beyond measures.
