The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has describe the former Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku CON, CFR, GCVO as a man whom he will continue to draw inspiration from.
Obiano made this disclosure, at the 10th Chief Emeka Anyaoku Lecture Series, held at the Dora Akunyili Woman Development Center, Awka, the state capital.
The number one citizen of Anambra state, who was the Chief Host of the event, in his remark, also added that, this year’s lecture could not have been more timely, particularly, for Anambra state as it prepares to elect a new administration on 6th November, 2021.
“I have always said to myself, if chief Emeka Anyaoku could lead the Commonwealth, with all the diversities that came with it then, the least I could do is to offer good leadership to Ndi-Anambra”.
“This lecture theme: Leadership and Good Governance in Nigeria”, has reminded Ndi-Anambra of the criteria to lookout for, when choosing their next governor.
“I will continue to draw inspiration from the qualities of Chief Emeka Anyaoku, during his days in public office. As the Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Anyaoku initiated measures that ensured the enthronement of democracy and peace in South Africa and many other African Countries. He changed how detained Africans were treated. These acts inspired many cultures and tradition in Africa”.
You would recall that, series of these annual lectures have been hosted earlier, by Lagos, Ogun, Delta and Edo state governments.
