Washed Bauchi State Road: Gov Bala Visits Scene, Confirms Three Dead, Promises Palliative

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has paid an inspection visit to the scene of the road that links the state with its neighboring Kano, which was washed away by a torrential rainfall on Friday.

Bala, while addressing Journalists at the scene of the incident on Saturday shortly after the inspection, confirmed that three travelers lost their lives.

He promised to provide palliation and ensure that a permanent solution is provided on the affected road linking Bauchi with Kano and other states, through Ningi local government area of the state.

The Governor also appealed for quick intervention from the Federal Government in order to ensure that, permanent solution is provided to the problem.

He said that, the state government would provide some palliative measures to cushion the effect of the natural disaster on the citizens.

Governor Bala, who described the damage on the road as “so monumental” said that the state government has directed Triacta Construction Firm, to reconstruct the portion of the road that was affected by the flood.

“It has washed out two portions. Because of the wash out, and the low flood drain we have brought Triacta who have looked at it and we have given them directive to make sure they give them palliation”, he said.

Bala said, Bauchi state government and representative of the federal ministry of works and the Zonal representative of Federal Road Management Agency (FERMA) were unanimous on the need to provide remedy to the problem.
