The Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital has on Monday, the 23rd of August, 2021, granted and issued a restraining order stopping the alleged candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Joseph Guluwa from participating in the forthcoming Bokkos Local Government elections and also the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), from allowing Joseph participate in the said election in Bokkos, pending the determination of Suit No. PLD/J/327M1 /2021, filed by one Hon. Peter Best Mallo.
The presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Ishaku Kunda, who granted the restrain in a Motion Exparte filed by Hon. Peter Best Mallo through his Counsel, Munir Abdullahi Barau (Esq), ordered PLASIEC, the body saddled with the responsibility of conducting Local Government elections in Plateau State, its Chairman, Hon Ntung Ari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) from allowing Joseph Guluwa, parade himself as, the Chairmanship candidate of the party in Bokkos LG, pending the determination of the suit.
Hon. Peter Best Mallo, in the suit No. PLD/J/327M1 /2021, is challenging the nomination of Joseph Guluwa, as the flag bearer of the APC in Bokkos LGA and therefore sought for an Interim Order for parties to maintain status quo until the determination of the case.
In an interview with the Plaintiff’s Counsel, Munir Abdullahi Barau (Esq), the Lawyer explained that, his client is a member of the APC and been dissatisfied with the alleged primary election in Bokkos Local Government that produced Joseph Guluwa, he approached the Plateau State High Court for remedy.
Adding that, “Gladly, the Court in its wisdom has graciously granted our client his prayers to stop the alleged APC flag bearer through this Exparte Order, which is restraining him from claiming to be the elected candidate of an illegal and kangaroo consensus process, pending the determination of the suit he filed”.
