BASSA/JOS VIOLENCE: DAME PAULINE TALLEN CALLS ON WARRING PARTIES TO REMAIN CALM, CONDEMNS ATTACKS

Dame Pauline K. Tallen (OFR KSG) the Minister of Women Affairs has called on all parties in the recent violence in Plateau State, especially at Jebu Miango in Bassa Local Government (LG) and Jos City, in Jos-North Local Government (LG) respectively, to sheath their swords and remain calm.

The Minister also, in a press statement personally signed by her and made available to Media Houses in Jos, also condemned the ugly situation and attacks on some communities in Bassa and Riyom LGAs of Plateau State.

In her now public statement, she stated that, “I have reasons to believe that, we have put such ugly scenarios and wanton destruction of lives and properties in the past and ought not to let it be heard of again in our dear State.

“I therefore call for a truce from all warring parties and urge everyone to sheath their swords. We must, as a matter of urgency give peace a chance”.

Pauline Tallen, commended the swift actions of the State Government’s Security Council and those of Security Operatives, especially Operation Safe Haven for coming to the aid of the masses and salvaging the situation from snowballing beyond remedy.

She urged all those affected by the crises to remain calm and be patient enough to allow the Government and Security Agencies to take the necessary actions to put measures in place to prevent a recurrence.

PRESS STATEMENT

TOTAL CONDEMNATION, OF RECENT VIOLENCE IN JOS, PLATEAU STATE.

I hereby express my total disgust and condemnation for the recent attack on some communities in Bassa and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

I have reasons to believe that we have put such ugly scenarios and wanton destruction of lives and properties in the past and ought not to let it be heard of again in our dear State.

I therefore call for a truce from all warring parties and urge everyone to sheath their swords.  We must as a matter of urgency give peace a chance.

I commend the swift actions of the State Government’s Security Council and those of Security Operatives, especially Operation Safe Haven for coming to the aid of the masses and salvaging the situation from snowballing beyond remedy.

I urge all those affected by this crisis to remain calm and be patient enough to allow the Government and Security Agencies to take the necessary actions to put measures in place to prevent a recurrence.

Specifically, I do not see any merit in the blame game being traded by the victims of this unfortunate development and I urge all to consider total forgiveness of one another so that we can enjoy peace once more in our dear State.

Further, I call on all stakeholders such as our revered traditional, religious and community leaders to help educate their subjects on the importance of peaceful coexistence, which are necessary for development to thrive.
