SPORTS: Plateau United FC Will Be In The Continent Next Season- Pius Henwan

By: Alfred Saiki and Rueben Egbah,

The General Manager of Plateau United Football Club Jos, Mr. Pius Henwan has stated that the club will play in the African Continent next season after a disappointing 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season where they ended 9th on the log.

Henwan stated this, while addressing players and technical crew of the team at the Jos International Stadium, two days after the 2020/2021 ended as the team goes a month’s break.

He used the opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr.  Simon Bako Lalong for his unflinching support and assured that come next season, Plateau United will go for the league title and a continental slot as to reciprocate the Governor’s kind gesture to the team.

While taking stock of what transpired in the out gone season, Henwan lamented that financial constraints and player’s negligence to the club’s objective were largely responsible for their inability to win the league title or pick a continental ticket.

The GM went further to commend some of the players for giving their best throughout the season, but stated that those who exhibited indifference to the club’s aims and aspirations will be shown the way out.

“It’s quite unfortunate that, some of you failed to live up to expectation basically due to indiscipline and non-challant attitude to the cause of the team, management will not hesitate to drop such players , as there will be no room for a repeat of  that next season”, Henwan stated.

Henwan, disclosed that, efforts are on to reorganize the technical crew to ensure maximum performance while tested and trusted legs will be recruited to fortify the team and fill the void left behind by some regulars of the team who went to Europe to further their playing career.

The General Manager equally used the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of critical stakeholders in Plateau State for their support and appealed for more next season as efforts are on to raise a strong team that can compete on all fronts.

He apologized to the club’s teeming fans both at home and in the Diaspora for the team’s inability to secure a continental ticket in the out gone season, assuring that come next season, Plateau United will put smiles on their faces.
